*Practices should only be missed for emergencies, medical appts, family conflicts or participation in other team practices/competitions. If able, athletes should communicate with coaching staff if he/she will not be present at practice.
*Athletes must be present for at least 10 practices prior to participating in a meet. This is to ensure students are physically prepared for the vigors of racing so absences d/t participation in other sports will count towards those 10 required practices.
*In order to participate in the Saturday meet, an athlete must be present for a minimum of 2 XC practices the week of the meet. To participate on varsity, he/she must be present for all 4 XC practices that week (except for excused absences due to emergencies ONLY).
*If practice is canceled due to weather conditions, coaches will send notification by 5pm (for 6pm practices) and 3:30pm (for 4:15pm practices) via parentsquare once available and put on the Announcements page of the website. Once school starts, we will also try to notify the schools to let students know in the afternoon announcements.
*Canceled practices will NOT count towards the 10 practice requirement but WILL count towards weekly practice requirements for meet participation so if a student is present at least 1 day that week, they will be eligible to run in the meet that weekend as long as they have met the 10 practice requirement.
*REMEMBER - we will run in hot, cold and rain so athletes should be prepared for all conditions - as we progress into fall, we encourage dressing in layers!

Practice Schedule 2023 - UPDATES IN PROGRESS!
- Summer Conditioning is optional but strongly encouraged so that student athletes are able to jog 20min without needing to stop to walk by the first practice - those moving into 7th and 8th grade this fall are welcome to join the HS teams for summer practices (Boys HERE, Girls HERE) but should be sure to let coaching staff know what grade they will be in prior to the start of practice. For new runners, see the summer conditioning plan on the Tips page :)
- We will have team practices Monday-Thursday each week (No organized practices on Fridays)
- Our first official week of practice is Monday, 7/31/23, through Thursday, 8/3/23 @ Forest Field Park from 4:15 - 5:45pm
- Start the second week through the end of season, practices will begin @ CHS at 4:15pm
- If we end practice at a location other than CHS, coaches will transport athlete's bookbags, water bottles, etc (last season we ended practice at Forest Field on Wed. but that may change this year)
- Practice time/location may need be adjusted for team pictures - date/time/location TBA
- After school starts, will meet for practice near the Spirit Bell by the CHS Stadium at 4:15pm
- Last season, we were approved for 1 shuttle bus to transport students from Watts MS to CHS for practice once school started and the students from Tower Heights and Magsig either walked to CHS after school or had parent/guardian transportation
- Practices at the end of the season will likely end earlier as workouts/runs start to wind down for last couple weeks as we prepare for our most important races
